How to tell if DTF powder is properly cured?
A properly cured adhesive powder should look evenly melted and smooth, with a slightly textured orange-peel appearance. There should be no obvious dry powder particles remaining.
Under-cured powder may not bond properly to the garment. This can result in a brittle print with poor adhesion and reduced wash durability.
Over-cured powder may look yellowish and feel hard or brittle. Excessive heat or a curing time that is too long can affect the adhesive and potentially damage the print.
How to test your curing?
Look at the adhesive surface after curing.
Check whether the powder has melted evenly.
Perform a transfer test.
Check adhesion after cooling.
A wash test is one of the best ways to check whether the DTF powder has been properly cured and whether the transfer has good durability.
We would recommend two type of wash tests, because they answer different questions:
Normal wash test: follow the garment's care instructions. This checks whether the transfer performs under normal expected use.
Stress wash test: use a higher temperature and/or more intensive cycle to deliberately put the transfer under greater stress. This can help reveal weaknesses in curing or adhesion.
